New Database Projects

We have developed the beta versions of two new databases for the community annotation of the genome.

One of the features that users may have seen at the GDB booth is the sequence viewer which shows the complete contig sequence of NCBI genes with the introns and exons in an interface that allows the information to be copied to notepad.

These are wholly original works developed using no code from existing bioinformatics projects and incorporating sequence data from NCBI's latest build of the human genome as well as data from other public databases. Our database incorporates the one-to-many relationships of genes, transcripts, and proteins. Users can submit new sequence data, and the ownership and versioning of sequence data are recorded. Users can annotate records using text annotations, citations, or searchable metadata terms.

If you would like access to the beta versions of the databases, please complete a request for a GDB password ( http://www.gdb.org/gdb-bin/gdb/regmail ).

If you are a GDB account holder, send an email to request password for the new projects

  Recruiting Editors

GDB has historically relied on the HUGO Human Gene Mapping Committee to appoint editors. However, recently that committee was disbanded.

We are presently recruiting scientists to play a role in the annotation of the human genome. This, in particular, presents an opportunity for new scientists to become involved in a world recognized role.

Please contact Dr. A. Jamie Cuticchia (jamie@gdb.org) if you are interested in learning more.
